Essay: A Postman

Can one imagine our life without a postman? Obviously not. A postman is our need. He is the part and parcel of our Fee, because, he with his service, brings the distant people. Closer to each other.

A postman is the most awaited person. He is a daily visitor. Once a day we hear the knock on the door by him. He wears a khaki uniform with a khaki cap and carries a khaki bag which contains cards, letters, parcels, money-orders and registers he has to deliver. Everyday he goes to the post office, sorts out the letters, puts stamps on them and carries them from house to house. He arranges them as per the house numbers so that the chance of misdelivery is removed and his time is saved. He collects the letters for delivery, fills his bag and goes from door to door. He gives envelops, various parcels. Money-orders, Registers to the people. He goes up and down the steps of tall buildings time and again. He does not think of the scorching sun, heavy rains or chilling bitter cold. He has to go on doing his duty without break.

A postman is a person due to whom the worldly affairs of trade and correspondence go on. He carries important documents. He may bring a letter of passing an interview. At times he may bring a letter for a mother from her distant son. At other time - he may bring the news of sad demise of someone near and dear.

He is the person who brings laughter on lips and tears in eyes. But he himself is indifferently doing his duty. Working as a postman, though looks simple, is hard indeed. It is a taxing, tiresome job. It is boring due to its tedious routine nature. There is no change, no variety, no excitement. Day in and day out do the same walking, climbing, handing the post. Just imagine ourselves in the place of a postman ! We will understand the pains behind his duty So we should be thankful to this humble, most useful and inevitable man rendering his important service to public dutifully.
