Essay: My Aim in Life

Aims and ambitions differ with differing personalities. Wealth, power, fame always fascinates human heart. So the aims of many people are woven around them. Many aspire to become business magnets. Most of the others wish to become an engineer or a doctor. Some others take over as politicians and become leaders. There are so many other aims people aspire for.

As for myself I prefer to be a teacher. I know this profession won't pay me much, won't make me famous. But what it will give me is much valuable for me than wealth and fame. It will slow upon me the content and satisfaction of serving humanity. For I will live myself the noble life based on good values. The simple living and high thinking of a teacher inspires me to take up this profession.

I am fully aware of the limits of this profession. I shall have to spend a very routine life. There won't be any thrill in it. I shall have to do the same tedious work of correcting exercise-books, taking out papers and correcting them. But I am sure it won't bore me for it is one of my duties as a teacher. I have love and consideration for children. I love the sensitive minds of the students. Their minds, like a sponge are very absorbent. So I will be able to sow in their minds the seeds of virtues like dutifulness and discipline, love for India our Motherland.

I shall leach 'them the noble lessons of unity, co-operation, self-respect and self-help. I shall try to remove vices hi them. I shall teach them the selfless service to humanity. I shall direct their behaviour towards help; their speech towards truth and their etiquettes towards respect and obedience. I shall make their minds open. I shall widen their outlook by parting with them the knowledge of various subjects.

This will be the service I can do to mankind as a teacher. So I think I am cut out for being a teacher. That's my aim in life.
